Vesak day is a public holiday in Singapore....we LOVE all the traditions surrounding the celebration of Buddha's birthday. The kids particularly enjoyed the "bathing" of the Buddha statue. We enjoyed visiting the Siong Lim Monastery in Toa Payoh - a beautiful Buddhist temple and complex.
Sarah, I love these. I see this place every time I go to the airport and wonder if the trek is worth it. Now, I know it is! I can't wait to go there.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite posting subject...imagine a birthday celebration for the Buddha. I find that very intriguing. The children were really taking it all in...such serious faces pouring the water over the Buddha. Great opportunity to teach about other religions and how special they are...by DOING IT!!
